How to Use Our Access Control System Builder

Designing an access control system doesn’t need to be complicated. Our Design Your Own Access Control Builder helps you choose the right components for your door or gate, all in one place.

Whether you’re an installer, electrician or simply upgrading your existing security, here’s how it works.

Step 1: Choose Your Door or Gate

Start by selecting the type of entrance you’re working with:

  • Timber Door – Traditional wooden doors.
  • Aluminium Door – Framed aluminium doors.
  • Glass Door – Fully glazed doors.
  • Gate – External pedestrian gates.

Next, select whether you’re working on the entrance or exit side and whether the door is push or pull.

The builder will help filter suitable products, including weatherproof options for external installations.

Step 2: Choose Your Components

Click the component labels on the door illustration to explore available products.

Maglocks, Electric Bolts & Electric Strikes

These are the locking devices that secure your entrance.

  • Maglock (Magnetic Lock): Uses an electromagnet to hold the door closed. Commonly used on access-controlled doors.
  • Electric Bolt: Uses an electrically operated bolt to lock or release the door.
  • Electric Strike: Works with a compatible mechanical latch, allowing the door to be electronically released without operating the handle.

The builder helps you choose the appropriate locking solution for your door.

Keypads & Readers

These control who can enter.

A keypad allows authorised users to enter a PIN code, while a card or fob reader provides access using a compatible credential.

Choose from our available products, including weatherproof models for external installations.

Power Supplies (PSUs)

A power supply provides the electricity required to operate your access control components.

Different systems require different voltages and current capacities. The builder allows you to explore suitable power supplies for your installation.

Breakglass Emergency Releases

A breakglass unit provides an emergency method of releasing certain electrically locked doors.

These are particularly important where an emergency release is required as part of a compliant escape arrangement.

Maglock Brackets & Accessories

Depending on your door type and whether it opens by pushing or pulling, additional mounting brackets may be needed.

Our builder helps you find compatible brackets and accessories for your selected maglock.

Step 3: Review Your Products

As you build your system, you can explore alternative products, view our recommendations and select the components that best suit your installation.

You can then add your products directly to your basket or save them to a Project to organise components for multiple doors.

All prices displayed in the builder are excluding VAT.
