Fire & Alarm Activation

Our Fire & Alarm Activation range brings together the relays, isolation switches, fireman’s switches, keyed controls and manual devices commonly used when fire-alarm, access-control and automatic-door systems need to interact.

The correct component depends on the approved fire strategy, system cause-and-effect, connected equipment and required switching arrangement. Always confirm the operating voltage, contact configuration and intended response before installation.

Fire Alarm Relays & Fused Output Modules

The FRM-100 12/24VDC Fire Relay Module provides a compact changeover relay for compatible fire-alarm and access-control interfaces. It can be used where a fire-alarm output needs to change the state of another control circuit, such as an access-control input or compatible locking arrangement.

Where several separately protected outputs are required, the FFOB-4 Fire Fused Output Module provides four individually fused 12V outputs with selectable switched or permanently live operation.

For both products, the relay contact rating and the connected load must be checked as part of the system design.

Fire Alarm Isolation Switches

The FIREIS01 Fire Isolation Switch with LED provides key-controlled 230VAC isolation for authorised testing, servicing and maintenance. Maintained ON/OFF operation is combined with clear LED status indication and a 4A fast fuse.

An isolation switch should be positioned and labelled according to the fire-alarm design, and procedures should be in place to prevent a circuit being left isolated unintentionally after maintenance.

Fireman’s Switches

Fireman’s switches provide an identifiable emergency control point for compatible powered equipment where required by the approved system design. The range includes the FMS-SURF Surface-Mounted Fireman’s Switch and FMS-FLUSH Flush-Mounted Fireman’s Switch.

Both use a separate FMS-KEY Fireman’s Drop Key, which should be ordered where an operating key is required.

Fire & Emergency Keyswitches

Key-operated switches allow authorised personnel to carry out manual control, override or isolation functions without leaving an exposed push-button control.

The KS-CP-S Single-Pole Fire Keyswitch is suitable where one switching circuit is required, while the KS-CP-D Double-Pole Fire Keyswitch provides two contact sets.

For emergency door-release and override functions, the KS-EDR-S and KS-EDR-D provide green, maintained key-operated control in single- and double-pole versions.

These keyswitches use voltage-free contacts. Any voltage stated in their contact specification is a switching rating and is not a power-supply requirement for the switch itself.

Smoke Vent & Fire Vent Controls

Smoke-control and AOV installations may require secure manual controls for authorised operation or override. The KS-SV-3 Smoke Vent Keyswitch provides three-position maintained operation with dedicated Smoke Vent identification, while the KS-FVE-3 Fire Vent Extract Keyswitch provides a corresponding control for compatible fire-vent extract systems.

Smoke-control functions should always be selected and commissioned against the approved cause-and-effect requirements for the building.

Interchangeable-Legend Emergency & Isolation Keyswitches

The blue KS-B and orange KS-O keyswitch ranges are supplied with interchangeable legends for functions including Lockdown, Emergency, Emergency Power Off, Gas Abort, Gas Shut Off, Evacuate, Fire, Extinguishant Release, Smoke Vent and Isolation Switch.

Single-pole and double-pole versions are available. Choose the pole configuration according to the number of independent circuits that need to change state, and confirm the contact rating against the connected control input or load.

Emergency Push Buttons & Manual Controls

Clearly identified manual controls are also available for compatible emergency, assistance and signalling applications. Options include the F-EBRB/EPTE Emergency Push-to-Exit Button, K-RB/FAS Fire Alarm Silence Button, EBRBWC02 Blank Red Dome Button and K-RB/PFA Press-for-Assistance Button.

The button colour alone does not define its function. The legend, contact arrangement and connected system must match the intended use.

Fire Document Storage

The FIRE-DOCBOX-LN Lockable Fire Document Box provides a red steel enclosure for storing fire-system records, logbooks and other documentation specified by the responsible person or maintenance provider.

Connecting Fire Alarms to Access-Controlled Doors

When a fire alarm interfaces with an access-controlled or automatic door, establish the required response before wiring the interface. Depending on the approved design, activation may need to release a compatible electromagnetic lock, change the state of a control input, operate a relay or alter power to a designated circuit.

Do not assume every door should simply lose power during an alarm. The correct action depends on the door type, locking arrangement, escape strategy, compartmentation, automatic-door controller and documented cause-and-effect.

Fire-alarm interfaces and emergency control circuits should be designed, installed and commissioned by competent personnel, with the completed function tested under both normal and alarm conditions.
