About Fireco

Fireco is a UK fire-safety manufacturer best known for inventing Dorgard, the original acoustic fire-door retainer. The idea was developed by founder Neil Purssey in 1994, with Fireco founded in Brighton in 1995 under the original name Dorgard Ltd. The company later became Fireco in 2001 as its range of fire-safety products expanded.

Fireco has built its reputation around making fire-door compliance simpler through practical products that help prevent dangerous door wedging while allowing fire doors to remain open during normal use. Its Dorgard products have been used in schools, care homes, hospitals, offices, hotels, residential buildings and other environments where accessibility, ventilation and fire-door safety all need to be considered.

In 2023, Fireco became part of the Lagercrantz Group, while continuing to design and manufacture specialist fire-safety products and solutions.
