Choose from standalone access control keypads, proximity readers, keypad-and-fob systems, Wiegand readers and wireless entry controls for commercial doors, staff entrances, gates, barriers and automatic doors. The range includes RGL, ACRE and ASEC products for simple PIN entry through to IP-rated external readers and Bluetooth access.
Most products in this collection are standalone devices, meaning the keypad or reader stores its own users and operates a relay to control a compatible electric lock. Wiegand readers work differently and require a compatible controller to make the access decision.
Which Access Control Keypad or Reader Do I Need?
| Type | Best for | Typical choice |
|---|---|---|
| PIN-only keypad | Simple code entry without cards or fobs | KP1000, KP50, ACRE ACT range |
| Keypad + proximity | PIN plus card/fob access | KPX1000, KPX2000, KPX75 |
| Standalone proximity reader | Card/fob entry without PIN codes | SPX-26P, SPX-26M |
| Wiegand reader | Reader connected to a separate controller | RD26-C |
| Wireless keypad | Retrofit gates, barriers and doors where cabling is difficult | WL-KP35 + REC-35 |
PIN Keypads
A standalone PIN keypad is a straightforward way to control a door where users can share or be assigned access codes. Check the number of user codes, number of relay outputs, weather rating and supply voltage before choosing a model. Heavy-duty metal keypads are useful for exposed or high-traffic entrances, while compact models suit internal offices, stockrooms and staff areas.
Keypads with Proximity Card & Fob Access
Combined keypad readers provide PIN entry alongside compatible cards or key fobs. This can make day-to-day access quicker and allows lost credentials to be removed without changing a shared PIN for every user. RGL 125kHz EM credential products are available separately in this collection; always confirm the credential technology before ordering replacements for an existing system.
Standalone vs Wiegand Readers
A standalone proximity reader stores users and controls its own relay. A Wiegand reader such as the RD26-C only reads the credential and passes its data to a compatible controller such as the KPX2000. If you are replacing an existing reader, check the frequency, Wiegand format and controller compatibility rather than selecting by appearance alone.
Wireless Access Control
The WL-KP35 wireless keypad is battery powered and communicates with the separate REC-35 receiver. This arrangement can be useful on gates, barriers and retrofit installations where a cable cannot easily be run to the keypad position.
Choosing the Correct Product
- Choose PIN, card/fob, Bluetooth or combined credential entry.
- Check user capacity and whether one or two controlled outputs are required.
- Confirm the exact supply voltage and AC/DC requirement.
- For outdoor use, check the manufacturer's IP rating and mounting instructions.
- Confirm whether the device is standalone or needs a separate Wiegand/controller input.
- Check the credential frequency and format before buying additional cards or fobs.
- Match the keypad or reader relay arrangement to the locking and emergency-release design.
