Fireco Dorgard DG2000 Fire Door Hold Open Device (3 Colour Variants)
The Fireco Dorgard DG2000 is a self-contained, battery-operated acoustic fire door retainer that keeps a self-closing fire door open during normal use and automatically releases it when the fire alarm sounds. By allowing the existing door closer to close the door when required, it provides a practical alternative to unsafe wedges while improving movement, ventilation and day-to-day access around the building.
This is the standard device-only version: a plastic floorplate and fire-door label are not included. Many installations do not require them; if a floorplate is essential for the application, choose the separately listed Dorgard version supplied complete with the standard flat floorplate.
How the Fire Door Retainer Works
Open the fire door to the required position and press the foot-operated plunger to retain it. The DG2000 continually listens for a sustained alarm signal at around 65dBA or above. Once a suitable alarm has sounded continuously for approximately 14 seconds, the plunger releases and the existing self-closing mechanism shuts the door. Adjustable sensitivity and the timed night-time release function help the unit suit everyday operating conditions.
Key Features
- Automatic alarm release: Allows the existing door closer to close the fire door when a compatible fire alarm is detected.

- Adjustable alarm sensitivity: Can be set to respond appropriately to the alarm sound level at the installation location.
- Flexible hold-open position: The foot-operated plunger can retain the door at the angle required for the opening.
- Straightforward fitting: Fixes to the bottom of a suitable internal fire door using four screws; typical installation takes around five minutes.
- Heavy-door suitability: Suitable for compatible door leaves up to 160kg and 1,600mm wide, up to power size EN7.

Installation and Compatibility
- Designed for suitable internal self-closing fire doors; the door must already have an effective, compatible door closer.
- Mount the unit at the bottom of the door using the supplied fixing points, ensuring the plunger can meet the finished floor correctly.
- Check that the door closes fully and latches or seals correctly when the hold-open device releases.
- Commission the unit against the building's actual fire alarm sound level and operating conditions before the doorway is brought into service.
- Use only where the device is appropriate to the site's fire risk assessment, fire strategy, door certification and applicable installation category.
- Inspect, test and maintain the retainer and its batteries in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and the building's fire-door maintenance regime.
